Light tan and Brazilian brown leather upholstery decorate the inside of the three-seater cockpit. The color is named after Creighton Brown, one of the executives who played a pivotal role in establishing the fledgling McLaren Cars company. The 1995 example pictured here is number 25 of 106, but the only one finished in this particular exterior color. Just 106 McLaren F1 road cars were manufactured between 19, and only 64 were actually completed to original, street-legal specifications. This included unique treatments such as the date-coded Goodyear Eagle F1 tires, original FACOM tool chest, fitted luggage, titanium tool kit, an official Driving Ambition book, and special TAG Heuer watch. Maintained meticulously and driven only sporadically with just 243 miles, this 1995 F1 crossed the Gooding & Company auction block in Monterey in original factory condition. At the time, it was delivered new to Japan, federalized by JK Technologies, and U.S. This 1995 example – also known as Chassis 029 – was part of a private Japanese collection rarely seen in public. That example, converted at the McLaren Special Operations Woking factory to an ultra-rare LM specification, sold for $19.8 million in 2019. Likewise, this 1995 F1 exceeded another, more recent McLaren example.
Described as a time capsule, this 1995 F1 surpassed the previous record for a McLaren F1 road car ($15.62 million set in 2017).
